How to Add, Install, and Activate MailPlus Licenses: Things to Know

Each Synolgy NAS or Virtual DSM comes with 5 free MailPlus licenses, but you can add more by purchasing Synology MailPlus License Packs. These packs come in 5 or 20 user options and are permanent, meaning you can even move them to another compatible NAS under the same Synology Account.

Important Notes:

  • Only active email accounts need licenses. You can re-use licenses from deactivated accounts.
  • Email aliases don’t need separate licenses.
  • Check your NAS’s product page under Specs > Software Specs for the recommended maximum active accounts.

Adding Licenses:

  1. Go to the Synology MailPlus Server page in DSM.
  2. Click the License tab.
  3. Click MailPlus > Add License.

  4. Agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. Make sure your network is good and sign in to your Synology Account.
  6. Choose one of these options:
    • Enter an existing license key you already purchased.
    • Follow the wizard to buy a new license pack.

Once the license is added, MailPlus will automatically update your user limit.
